- Questions?
- Our telephone # is (434) 293-6565 - an AA member will answer the phone. If no AA member is available then an answering service will pick up. You can request to be called back by an AA member. Feel free to call about meeting lists, information about meetings, directions, or if you would like to ask questions about AA.
- At this time, this site is mostly for AA Charlottesville - there is much information about AA on the web - a web search for Alcoholics Anonymous will pull up plenty of information. Official and very helpful AA brochures and texts can be found on the web site of Alcoholics Anonymous, World Services Office (GSO link in sidebar).
- Want to Visit AA?
- If you would like to attend a meeting for professional or personal reasons - make sure that you attend an "open" meeting: look for OD, Ostep, Otrad etc. on the meeting list and avoid the "closed" meetings: CD, Cstep, Ctrad, CBB. If you have a desire to quit drinking any meeting is open to you.
- Different Types of AA Meetings - Explanation:
- CBB: Closed Big Book -read and discuss passages from "Alcoholics Anonymous"
- OBB: Open Big Book -same as above, except it is an open meeting
- Cstep/trad: Closed Step/Trad. - read and discuss "12 Steps and 12 Traditions"
- Ostep/trad: Open Step / Traditions meeting
- CD: Closed Discussion of topics related to Alcoholism and Recovery
- OD: Open Discussionof topics related to Alcoholism and Recovery
- CS: Closed Step - Discuss a step (usually one per week)
- OS: Open Step - same as previous, except it is an open meeting
- OSpeaker/CSpeaker meetings: someone will tell their story
